Visual Stop Settings for Cutting Multi-Angle Mats

  1. When cutting odd or multi-angled mat openings it is necessary to draw the cut lines with a pencil on the back of the mat. The borders are then set by aligning calibration marks on the pressure foot with the penciled layout on the mat. Follow the instructions below to create visual stop settings:
  2. Cut the right, bottom, and left borders of a rectangle mat. Do not change the stop settings and leave the mat locked in place. Lower the foot against the mat and add guide marks using a fine point permanent marker as shown
  3. Position the knifehead in the middle of the bottom cut. Make a markon the left and right sides of the foot in line with the bottom cut of the mat. These marks are used for setting the knifehead on the line of cut.
  4. Position the knifehead against the right hand stops. Make a mark on the recessed surface of the foot in line with the right hand vertical cut. This mark is used for setting the knife postion for the begining of the cut.
  5. Position the knifehead against the left hand stops. Make a mark on the front face of the foot in line with the left hand vertical cut. This mark is used for setting the knife position at the end of the cut.
